Barbaros works closely with Herrick's well-known Real Estate Department. The members of the Board of Directors were Mr. Hadji Ali Bey, Mr. Kartaki Efendi, Mr. Nafız Efendi, Mr. Kirkor Efendi, Mr. Mehmet Ali Efendi, Mr. Kostan Efendi, Mr. Nikolaki Efendi and Mr. İshak Efendi. Mr. President Osman Fevzi Efendi made the opening speech of the first meeting of the Chamber by the introductory words of; "Messieurs, there is a sufficient of participation. I am opening the first session. I pray to God for our endeavors to be beneficial and propitious for our public and country.”
During the first meeting of the Chamber Mr. Nafiz Efendi and Mr. Papazyan Efendi were assigned for the consultancy and Mr. Elmasyan Efendi was assigned to the First Secretary. The Bursa Chamber of Commerce united with the Chamber of Industry established a year later and became the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In its construction year, the Chamber had 70 members. In those terms, there was one bank and there were 3000 towel, 50 fabric machinery, 54 silk, 5 charcoal, 50 flour, one diamond, 100 oil and one iron factories in Bursa. 105 new members were registered to the Chamber in 1890, whereas, 14 in 1891, 8 in 1892 and 42 in 1893. In 1927, the number of the members reached to 1815.
In 1907 the Chamber had been operated in a small room belonging to the Municipality and until moving to its own building in 1938, its activities had been continued in three rooms behind the Emir Inn. The Chamber moved to its own building in March 1973, whose construction was started on 11th December 1971. Besides, the Chamber moved to its building in the Industrial Zone at the second half of the year 1999. The Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry has still given contribution for the commercial and industrial life of the region and the country to be developed since its foundation. The Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry active since 1889, has been involved in the local commercial and industrial fields and given undeniable endeavors for establishment and sustainability of today’s milestones, the vocational and technical schools. For this reason, the Chamber gave financial and morally assistance to the Hamidiye Industrial School that was the educator and the initiator of the machinery and metal works school in Bursa by introducing its products during the exhibitions and initiating to establish a sales store. The industrialists in Bursa take decisions and measures by means of the Chamber for standardization even it would not have any sense in the literature.
The Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also encouraged not only its members for their benefits by attending to the international fairs, but also to increase the industrial and agricultural products of the city.
The Bursa Chamber of Commerce and Industry established at raising awareness among the traders and industrialists in Bursa to provide their contribution to national economy, encouraging its members in carrying out their activities in optimum conditions and resulting the problems that the members encounter, takes place among the prior and professional institutions of the country.

ABOUT GAZIANTEP CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (GCC)
It was later known as the Chamber of Agriculture between 1902 – 1903, as the Chamber of Agriculture, Commerce and Industry in 1904, as the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce and Industry until 1989 and finally renamed as the Gaziantep Chamber of Commerce on 15 May 1989. The organization, initially founded by a few entrepreneurs, have grown to become a body with over 17,000 active members and became one of the most prominent trade organizations in the country, as well as the region.
Ever since its beginning, the GCC has played an important role in the commercial and industrial life of the city, the region and the country and has significantly contributed to the planned development of trade and industrial activities. Targeting continuous innovation in its range of services, GCC has opened new frontiers in the business environment for its members by the assistance it provides while having expanded its involvement in sociocultural areas and has initiated many projects in this arena, as well.

With its history dating more than a century back, our building is known to be built in 1880s by an architect named Kambanakis. The building, used as a hotel, a workshop and as the İstanbul City Conservatory, was bought by our Chamber in 1958. Thanks to the restoration and innovation works started in 1960, the building was made suitable to the requirements of İstanbul Chamber of Industry.
Our chamber, together with its Professional Committees, Chamber Council, Board of Directors, General Secretariat and employees, contributes to the improvement of the competitiveness of its members and the Turkish industry and to the economy of the country. The number of the Chamber members, 700 on the date of foundation, increased to 2,000 within ten years and exceeded 12,500 in 2006. ICI, 98 percent of whose members are small and medium-sized enterprises, is the most dynamic and powerful representative of the Turkish industry.
ICI, by continuously following the political, economic and technological developments in the world and in Turkey and by monitoring the effects of those developments on the Turkish industry, strives, with the help of its members, to elaborate solution recommendations for the problems faced by the Turkish industrialist. It aims at a constructive and solution-based cooperation with the public bodies in order for the Turkish industry to achieve a sustainable competitiveness and to eliminate the barriers in front of its development.
The main objective of İstanbul Chamber of Industry (ICI), founded in 1952, is to fulfill the existing and future needs of the Turkish industry through information, training and consulting services, to improve the international competitiveness of our industry and country and to contribute to the development of the country as a whole. ICI, incorporating a dynamism and development with this understanding, is a non-governmental organization endeavoring to renew and enhance its services every day.

The services that the İstanbul Chamber of Industry provides to its members may be gathered in two main groups. The first group comprises the services provided on the basis of the reporting responsibility originating from the legislation in effect. The second comprises services performed for the purpose of enhancing the competitive power of the members.
CONTRIBUTION TO QUALITY AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
The Quality and Technology Specialization Committee (ICI-QTSC) of İstanbul Chamber of Industry, founded by the voluntary participation of representatives from the industry, the universities and the public within the body of ICI in 1999, endeavors to contribute to the improvement of the competitiveness of the Turkish industry, and that of our members in the first place, by enhancing its abilities to develop quality and technology and to the formulation of quality and technology policies of İstanbul Chamber of Industry.
ICI places great importance on the cooperation between universities and industry, and, in this context, conducts the "Industrial Design Project for SMEs" in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Products Design of ITU (İstanbul Technical University). Under the scope of this project, senior class students at ITU's Department of Industrial Products Design carry out their dissertation thesis at SMEs whose industrial design infrastructure is limited and thereby contribute to the researches of the firms to develop new products and to the development of their competitiveness.
ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS AND SENSITIVITY
In order to conduct studies regarding the "environment" for implementing the concept of "sustainable development" based on utilizing the resources effectively, decreasing waste, protecting human health and environmental quality, perceiving the concepts of economic development and environment protection as inseparable, to support the studies of its members in this context and to improve the environmental awareness, ICI started its activities in 1986 and established the Environment Department, Environment Specialization Committee and Environment Consultation Committee within its body in 1990. In 2004, Environment Technical Study Group was formed under the Environment Specialization Committee in order to carry out studies regarding the environmental legislation. ICI has intensified its activities for the environment with trainings, information and consultation services, studies regarding the development of environmental legislation, institutional cooperation and joint studies, creating views, reward ing the members for their environmental studies, environmental projects, establishing a waste recycling stock exchange and publications on environmental issues.
SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY CONCEPT
In today's fast-changing world, non-governmental organizations have achieved an influential position through the added value they provided for social life. On the basis of this concept, ICI pioneered the establishment of many associations and foundations some of which are the Foundation of İstanbul Chamber of Industry (FICI), Turkish Technological Development Foundation (TTDF), Economic Development Foundation (EDF) and İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IFCA).
SUPPORT FOR VOCATIONAL TRAINING
İstanbul Chamber of Industry continues to contribute to vocational and technical training through its foundation FICI. Training activities have a priority within the activities of the foundation. In order to contribute to the education of qualified intermediary technical staff required by the Turkish industry, "FICI Industry Vocational High School and Vocational Technical Education Centre" will be established in Akatlar, İstanbul . In this modern school, which will constitute a well-qualified example for Industry Vocational Schools, students will take lessons on foreign language, computer and communication as well as an education composed of the latest technologies used in the industry, starting from the 2006-2007 educational year.
Our foundation develops and expands its contribution to the education through the Vocational High Schools, School-Industry Cooperation Protocol concluded with the Turkish Higher Education Council.
FICI Anatolian Technical High School for Construction, Sisli [in İstanbul ] Industry Vocational High School and Zeytinburnu [in İstanbul ] Textile Vocational School have been chosen as the pilot schools at the end of an examination of all the secondary education vocational technical schools in İstanbul , the dynamo of the industry and production. The studies concerning the equipment of these pilot schools in accordance with the daily technologies and rehabilitation of them through the establishment of consultation committees are underway.

KAYSERI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Kayseri Chamber of Commerce which was established in 1896 has a background of more than an era. Bekir Adıyaman became the president of the assembly; H. Ali Kilci became the board chairman. M. Asaf Mehmetbeyoğlu, Mustafa Erçalık became the vice chairmen. Mehmet Lafçı became the accountant member, Şaban Solmaz, Mehmet Satır, İbrahim Karahisarlı, A. Hamit Alaş, Ömer Oskaybaş, Ali Aydın and Hüseyin Mercan became members and Mehmet Tercan became secretary general in the elections on 4th January 2009. This team will be at the service of entrepreneurs, industrialists and businessman for the social and economic development of Kayseri, for increasing the level of welfare with leading up projects.
Kayseri Chamber of Commerce which works with 7 commissions, 46 professional committees, 100 council members and 11 members of board has an active role on meeting the needs and expectations of its members proper to Kayseri commerce culture that has 4000-year- commerce culture. It goes on its perception of being an organization that is consulting its members and business world, is giving new knowledge and is adding value in accordance with its mission. It contains “Quality Strategies” which is essential for Turkish chamber system in the frame of TOBB’s project that started in 2001 with cooperation of English Chambers Union and that has carried on with Turkish Loydu Foundation since 30th of June 2005.
The aim of the enterprise is to establish the quality consciousness between our Chambers/Stock Markets, to increase the prestige and service types of Chamber/Stock Market system in the presence of business world, to improve the service quality, to provide the intimacy of Chamber/Stock Market systems, and by this means to obtain the adaptation of Turkish Chamber/Stock Market system to European chamber/stock market system.
10 chambers in the I. period and 14 chambers in the II.period are accredited. Then, in the III.period that goes on with the cooperation of Turkish Loydu Foundation 14 chambers accredited. In total there are 38 chambers accredited. In the IV.period, which Kayseri Chamber of Commerce is included, 15 chambers are included in the project.
In 2011, the accredited Chamber/Stock market number is 85. Kayseri Chamber of Commerce is included in the accreditation system after the studies in March 2007.
Our chamber is going on its qualified and accredited services with TOBB Chamber/Stock Market Accreditation System Certificate which was taken in 2007 and was renewed in 2010 for 3 years and with TSE EN ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certificate which was taken in 1998 and renewed in 2010 for 3 years.

TURKISH CHAMBER OF SHIPPING
Istanbul and Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea Regions Chamber of Shipping, briefly called the Turkish Chamber of Shipping (TCS), is an important professional organization of the Turkish maritime sector, with its headquarters in Istanbul and main branch offices in Izmir, Bodrum, Marmaris, Antalya, İskenderun, Fethiye and Karadeniz Ereğlisi. It has a Liaison Bureau in Ankara and also representations in most of the coastal towns and cities of Turkey. Turkish Chamber of Shipping was first established as Istanbul Chamber of Shipping in 1982 and afterwards its area of activities has been extended gradually so as to cover the region of the Sea of Marmara, the Aegean Sea coast and the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, then finally the Black Sea coast of the country.
The most important aim of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping is to try to develop shipping in accordance with the national transportation and shipping policy and the public interest. Moreover, to promote the interests and provide the common requirements of its members, to arrange the development of the profession, to guide and facilitate the professional activities, to establish common rules and to inform the authorities on shipping matters and to keep the discipline, morals and solidarity of the shipping profession are the other major concerns of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping.
The major activities of TCS are to establish rules and practices as regards shipping, to make researches and collect information on shipping, to ensure that sea trade is developing in accordance with the national policy of transportation, to supply information to foreign organizations on the possibilities and tariffs of the Turkish ports, to become member of and to follow activities of the international organizations concerned with shipping and to perform other functions stated in the law.
Among the members of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping are; shipowners, ship operators, shipping agents, ship sale and purchase brokers, forwarders, stevedores, tally firms, classification societies, marine insurance companies, underwriters, marine surveyors and experts, auxiliary services such as salvage, rescue, pilotage, dredging and yachting and also ship chandlers and suppliers, port, marina operators, ship-yacht builders and shipyards, ship-yacht equipment and repair services, maritime training companies, sand extractors and fishermen.
TCS’S MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS
Turkish Chamber of Shipping is a member of The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey and The International Chamber of Commerce-The Turkish National Committee. Apart from these two national organizations, TCS is also a member of The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), ICC - International Maritime Bureau (ICC - IMB), The Federation of National Associations of Ship Brokers and Agents (FONASBA), The Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO), European Community Association of Ship Brokers and Agents (ECASBA), The International Association of Independent Tanker Owners (INTERTANKO) and The Baltic Exchange and some other organizations.
Turkish Chamber of Shipping publishes many books of studies on shipping, including the annual “MARITIME SECTOR REPORT” in Turkish and in English and a monthly shipping magazine “TURKISH SHIPPING WORLD”.
The Members of TCS have been gathered in 47 Professional Committees, according to their fields of occupation and professions and at present Turkish Chamber of Shipping has over 8200 Members. In accordance with Law No:5174 every company performing activities in the field of maritime shipping has to become a Member of the Turkish Chamber of Shipping.
